After retirement John became the Chief Engineer at First Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. Along with his wife, Betty Lou, they led a Special Needs Sunday School Class and were Co-Chairs of the Benevolence Committee. Born in the north woods of Wisconsin, John loved to hunt and fish. He and Betty Lou moved to Galveston in 1947 for the birth of their son. Adapting to the warmer weather, John added softball, basketball and bowling in the Santa Fe Leagues.
We are so thankful that Katherine was so kind, caring, understanding and patient. She went above and beyond for my family during the sad event of my sisters passing. She answered all of our questions and met all of our wants and needs. I would so incredibly recommend Cairnes and funeral director Katherine. Mary Jo made us feel very comfortable when we met with her.

They will take good care of your loved one – The facility is very nice - fresh and clean. There are decorative air fresheners all around that put out a very pleasing fragance - not overwhelming. The music is excellent - soft and soothing. All personnel I came in contact with - either on the phone or in person - were very caring and knowledgable.
